I've been so excited to share this recipe since I didn't get around to it before Christmas last year. I made these Santa hats based on traditional knitted Santa hats. As usual, I wanted a product with as little assembly as possible, and I wanted to make a Santa hat that the kids would also wear everyday. So it had to sit well on the head, be warm around the ears and not be too heavy so that it slipped off the head.
After a lot of trial and error, we ended up with a hat in a combination of merino wool and mohair. A favorite that feels soft and warm. For a slightly different look, it can also be knitted in pure merino wool. I've knitted it in traditional Christmas colors, but I think Santa hats can look great in blue or maybe ochre yellow too?
