The princess in the house wanted a unicorn hat for the nursery, and when I couldn't find any recipes that were both practical for nursery use and met the criteria for a real unicorn, I set about making one myself.
The result is a neck hat with a helmet shape so that it sits well around the head and has the little bow in the front that I thought suited a unicorn. The hat is worked from the bottom up and is worked relatively quickly on 6.0 mm needles.
If you're looking for a thick winter hat, I recommend double thread Merino wool from Sandnes Garn, but if you want a slightly thinner version, Puno from Rauma Garn is a good alternative.
The mane and horn can be worked with leftover yarn - exact measurements are not necessary for this.
The pattern has been test knitted by lovely friends both IRL and on Instagram. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I hope it appeals to both knitters and users. The pattern can be found under the SHOP tab on the website.
